The term "3D" refers to a technology that displays TV programs, movies, games, and other content in a way that appears to add a third dimension, depth, to the images you see.
There are four types of equipment required to view 3D programming: Only some models of 3D TV; brand-specific 3D glasses, designed to work with certain 3D TVs; only some models of HD converters or DVRs; and HDMI cables.
