CableCARD

A CableCARD is a removable card that plugs directly into some TVs and third-party digital converters or DVRs to provide access to authorized digital cable programming. The CableCARD enables such equipment to receive authorized digital channels and services from Bright House Networks.

A tuning adapter is a bidirectional device that enables certain TiVo and Moxi DVRs to receive programming delivered via switched digital video.

Switched digital video (SDV) is a robust bandwidth-management system that makes it possible for Bright House Networks to offer more digital video programming services than ever before, including new HD channels.

A unidirectional cable ready product (UDCP) is a high-end TV or digital recording device (such as TiVo) that is available in retail stores and is capable of receiving unidirectional (always-on) linear programming through a CableCARD leased from Bright House Networks.

The current generation of unidirectional cable ready product (UDCP) retail devices are not capable of receiving channels delivered via switched digital video (SDV) in a bidirectional (as-needed) manner. Therefore, at this time, any digital video channel that is delivered via SDV requires a converter or tuning adapter from Bright House Networks.

Yes. The TiVo must be running software version 9.4 or higher. Only TiVo Series 3, TiVo HD, and TiVo HD XL DVRs are able to support this software version.
