Spectrum TV

What services are bidirectional?

Bidirectional services require communication both to and from the cable system. Examples of bidirectional services, which are only available on bidirectional devices, include:

  • The on-screen Guide, normally accessed by pressing Guide Button on a cable remote control.
  • Pay Per View (PPV) movies or events.
  • All On Demand programming, such as Movies On Demand or HBO On Demand.
  • Caller ID on TV.
  • Start Over®.
  • Switched digital video (SDV) channels.

These services require a bidirectional device, such as a Spectrum Receiver. SDV channels are also available to certain TiVo and Moxi DVRs and Ceton InfiniTV 4 for PCs by adding a tuning adapter, a bidirectional device we can provide. See What is a tuning adapter?

On Demand programming, Caller ID on TV, and Start Over are not available via a tuning adapter.
