What are composite cables?

Composite Cables

Composite cables are used for standard definition connections. There are three separate colored wires in a composite cable:

  • Red and white for left audio and right audio.
  • Yellow for video.

In the following image, the Y/V connection on the Spectrum Receiver serves as the port for the video wire.

Did You Know?

  • These cables cannot carry a high definition signal. When connecting HD equipment, use either HDMI or component cables.
  • Composite cables are sometimes referred to as RCA cables, Audio/Video cables, or just A/V cables.
