What are component cables?

Component Cables

Component cables provide a high definition connection between devices, such as between an HD Spectrum Receiver and an HDTV. They include three separate color-coded video wires. To ensure that the three cables are connected to the correct ports, devices usually identify the ports by both color and letter:

  • Y — Green
  • Pb — Blue
  • Pr — Red

Component cables are for video only, so audio cables must also be used. For more information on connecting component cables, see How do I hook up my Spectrum Receiver to my TV using component cables?
