Spectrum TV

My Surround Sound is not working.

While Surround Sound is present in a variety of programming, not all shows are broadcast in Surround Sound. It is normal for certain shows to use only some of the speakers you have set up in your Surround Sound system. If you receive Surround Sound on some channels, then your system is set up correctly.

If you are not receiving Surround Sound when you should:

  1. Check all of your audio and speaker wires to ensure they are securely connected.
  2. If you are not receiving any sound at all, see I am having audio problems with my cable service.
  3. Ensure you are using audio connections between your audio receiver and your Spectrum Receiver that can carry Surround Sound, such as HDMI or digital audio cables. Composite audio cables cannot carry the data needed for Surround Sound.
  4. Refer to your Surround Sound system's owner's manual for instructions on how to connect the system. Generally, you will need at least an audio connection from the Spectrum Receiver's compatible Audio Out port to the correct Audio In port on the receiver.
