How do I set up a new wireless network connection in Windows 8?

Windows 8 has a different appearance and layout from previous versions of Windows.

To set up a wireless network in Windows 8:

  1. On the Windows 8 Start window, click the Desktop tile.
  2. Right-click the Connections icon, and select Open Network and Sharing Center.
  3. Click Set up a new connection or network.
  4. Click Manually connect to a wireless network, and then click Next.
  5. Enter the Network Name, select the Security type and Encryption type, and enter the Security Key.
    • You can choose to display or hide the characters of the Security Key.
    • Additional options include Start this connection automatically and Connect even if the network is not broadcasting.
  6. Click Next.
  7. If any updates are needed, click Change Connection Settings.
