How do I set up my voicemail?

To set up your voicemail:

  1. From your home phone, dial *98. The voicemail greeting is played.
    • Voicemail setup only can be completed by dialing *98. After that, you can dial your phone number if you prefer.
    • If you dial *98 on your home phone and you hear a fast busy signal, you're not signed up for voicemail service.
  2. Enter your temporary Personal Identification Number (PIN), which is the last four digits of your phone number. Then press #. You're prompted to select a language.
  3. Press 1 for English or 2 for Spanish. You're prompted to enter a new PIN number.
  4. Enter a new four-digit PIN, and press #.
  5. To verify your PIN, enter it again, and press #. You're prompted to record your name, which is heard when retrieving and forwarding messages.
  6. At the prompt, say your name, and press #.
    • Press 1 to use the recording.
    • Press 2 to listen to the recording.
    • Press 3 to record your name again. You're prompted to record a voicemail greeting.
  7. At the prompt, say your greeting, and press #.
    • Press 1 to use the greeting.
    • Press 2 to listen to the greeting.
    • Press 3 to record your greeting again.
  8. Hang up or press # to exit voicemail.
  9. From your mobile phone or another phone, dial your home phone number and allow the call to go to voicemail.
    • If the setup is successful, you hear your voicemail greeting.
    • If your setup is not successful, you hear the message, "You can't leave a message. Goodbye." If this happens, repeat the setup process. If it still doesn't work, Contact Us.

Did You Know?

  • Voicemail should be set up within the first 90 days. If you wait more than 90 days to set up your voicemail, you'll need to contact Spectrum Customer Service to have the service initialized before following the voicemail setup instructions.
  • If you have an answering machine or another voicemail feature included as part of your telephone equipment, disable that feature on the device if possible. If you can't disable that feature on your telephone equipment, set it to pick up after at least six rings so that it doesn't answer first.
