How do I activate Call Forwarding (*72)?

Call Forwarding enables you to redirect calls to another number. You can direct all your calls to another number (Unconditional Call Forwarding), or you can specify only certain phone numbers to forward to another number (Selective Call Forwarding).

You can manage Call Forwarding:

You can manage Selective Call Forwarding only with your My Services account.

Activating Call Forwarding (*72) from your phone for all calls

  1. Pick up your phone and press *72. Listen for stutter tone (a series of short beeps).
  2. When the stutter tone begins, enter the ten-digit area code and phone number to which you want calls forwarded, and wait for the confirmation tone. After the confirmation tone, the system automatically places a courtesy call to the phone number you dialed. If the call is answered or the voice mail at that number answers the courtesy call, the feature is activated.
    • A confirmation tone indicates successful activation.
    • If the number you dialed is invalid, you will hear an error message or a busy signal.
    • You can attempt to forward the number again if it fails; this time add a 1 before the area code when entering the forward-to number.
    • If no one answers the call and voice mail does not pick up, you cannot forward your calls to that number.

To activate Call Forwarding from My Services for all calls:

  1. On the main toolbar, click My Services Tab. The My Services page opens.
  2. Sign in to your My Services account.
  3. In the Phone section, click Manage Phone Features. The Phone Online Tools page opens to the Phone Feature Settings tab.
  4. Click Call Forwarding.
  5. In the Unconditional Call Forwarding section, select Forward all calls to.
  6. Enter the ten digit area code and telephone number to which you want to forward all calls.
  7. In the Features Overview section, click Save Changes Button. A message is displayed, stating that your changes have been saved.

To activate Selective Call Forwarding using My Services:

  1. On the main toolbar, click My Services Tab. The My Services page opens.
  2. Sign in to your My Services account.
  3. In the Phone section, click Manage Phone Features. The Phone Online Tools page opens to the Phone Feature Settings tab.
  4. Click Call Forwarding.
  5. In the Selective Call Forwarding section, select Forward calls from select numbers to.
  6. Enter the number to which you want to forward select calls.
  7. In the Select Numbers text box, enter a 10-digit number you would like to forward, and click Add Button. The number is added to the list.
  8. Repeat Step 7 for each number you want to forward.
    • Selective Call Forwarding and Selective Call Blocking have a combined maximum of 30 numbers allowed to be entered between the two lists. For example, if there are 20 numbers on the Selective Call Forwarding list, there can only be up to 10 numbers on the Selective Call Blocking Select Numbers list.
  9. Click Save Changes Button. A message is displayed, stating that your changes have been saved.

To cancel Call Forwarding from your home phone for all calls:

Press *73. Listen for the confirmation tone.

To cancel Call Forwarding for all calls from My Services:

  1. On the main toolbar, click My Services Tab. The My Services page opens.
  2. Sign in to your My Services account.
  3. In the Phone section, click Manage Phone Features. The Phone Online Tools page opens to the Phone Feature Settings tab.
  4. Click Call Forwarding.
  5. In the Unconditional Call Forwarding section, clear the Forward all calls to check box.
  6. In the Features Overview section, click Save Changes Button. A message is displayed, stating that your changes have been saved.

To cancel Selective Call Forwarding for all specified numbers:

  1. On the main toolbar, click My Services Tab. The My Services page opens.
  2. Sign in to your My Services account.
  3. In the Phone section, click Manage Phone Features. The Phone Online Tools page opens to the Phone Feature Settings tab.
  4. Click Call Forwarding.
  5. In the Selective Call Forwarding section, clear the Forward calls from select numbers to check box.
  6. Click Save Changes Button. A message is displayed, stating that your changes have been saved.

To cancel Selective Call Forwarding for a specific number:

  1. In the Select Numbers section, locate the number for which you would like to cancel Selective Call Forwarding, and click Remove Button.
  2. Click Save Changes Button. A message is displayed, stating that your changes have been saved.
