Is incoming email scanned for viruses?

Yes. Our virus filter scans your incoming email attachments for tens of thousands of known viruses. Email messages without attachments are not scanned at all.

Attachments without viruses are delivered without any alteration to the email attachment.

If a virus is detected, the system attempts to clean the attachment. If the attempt is successful, you receive a new message from the email system notifying you that a virus was detected and removed. The original email is attached to the system-generated message, along with the cleaned file attachments.

If the system is unable to remove the virus, you receive a system-generated message notifying you that a virus was detected in the original email and that the file attachment was deleted. The text of the original email is displayed as an attachment to the system-generated message.
