When I reply to an email, characters are added to other emails in the thread. Can I remove or change those characters?

You can change or remove the characters used to separate replies to emails from the original message. The default is >.

To select your option to separate replies to emails from the original messages:

  1. In your Internet browser, enter https://mail.brighthouse.com, and complete the login process. The Inbox page opens.
  2. Click Settings. The Settings page opens.
  3. Under Customize mailbox options, click Message sending options. The Message Options page opens.
  4. Under Reply Separator, select one of the following options:
    • Line separator ("= = = = = =").
    • ">".
    • None.
  5. Click OK. The system returns to the Settings page.
