How do I remove the battery from my Home Phone modem (MTA)?

The following is a list of the Home Phone modems, or MTAs, used by Bright House Networks. When you find your model, click on the name to be linked to instructions for removing the battery from a Home Phone modem, or MTA. If you are not sure, the equipment is listed alphabetically, according to manufacturer and model number.

Always unplug your Home Phone Modem prior to removing the battery.

To remove the battery:

  1. Locate the battery compartment as shown in the picture.
  2. Press down on the latches to release the battery door. Set the battery door aside.
  3. Pull up on the latch above the battery and pull the battery out at the same time.

Arris TM402P

To remove the battery:

  1. Locate the battery compartment as shown in the picture.
  2. Press down on the latches to release the battery door. Set the battery door aside.
  3. Pull up on the latch above the battery and pull the battery out at the same time.

Arris TM502G

To remove the battery:

  1. Locate the Latch End as shown in the picture.
  2. Insert a finger into the latch opening. Then press down and pull back on the latch holding the battery door.
    • Note the orientation of the battery for future reference, as it will only fit completely if it is inserted correctly.
  3. Pull the door toward you to remove it, and then slide the battery out.

Arris TM602G

To remove the battery:

  1. Locate the Latch End as shown in the picture.
  2. Insert a finger into the latch opening. Then press down and pull back on the latch holding the battery door.
    • Note the orientation of the battery for future reference, as it will only fit completely if it is inserted correctly.
  3. Pull the door toward you to remove it, and then slide the battery out.

Motorola

To remove the battery:

  1. Locate and remove the battery cover on the bottom of the MTA by depressing the locking tabs.
  2. Pull the pull-tab on the battery and pull out the battery at the same time.

Scientific Atlanta

To remove the battery:

  1. Turn the modem over.
  2. Gently release the latch (Image Step 1) to open the battery cover and gain access to the battery compartment (Image Step 2).
  3. Hold the plastic strip on the front of the battery and gently slide the battery forward to remove it.

Scientific Atlanta WebStar DPX2203

To remove the battery:

  1. Place the MTA flat so that the lights are to your left, as in the picture.
  2. Unlock the battery by moving the latch to the right.
  3. Place one hand on the MTA only and your other hand on the battery dock.
  4. Slide the MTA toward you to separate it from the battery.

To remove the battery:

  1. Press on the front of the battery door, located on the front of the unit. That unlocks and opens the door.
  2. A latch drops down from the top of the MTA. If it is lowered, raise it before trying to release the battery.
  3. Hold the plastic strip on the front of the battery, and pull the battery forward to remove it.

Technicolor (RCA by Thomson)

To remove the battery:

  1. Unplug the power cord.
  2. Remove the battery cover from the MTA's rear panel.
  3. Move the white release lever to the right to release the battery.
  4. Pull the fabric tab attached to the battery. The battery slides out.

Ubee (Ambit)

To remove the battery:

  1. Unplug the MTA.
  2. Turn the MTA on its side.
  3. Press the release tab and open the compartment.
  4. Remove and replace the battery.
  5. Close the battery compartment.
  6. Plug the MTA back into the power outlet.

Ubee U10C022

To remove the battery:

  1. Locate the battery cover on the back plane of the MTA, opposite the connecting ports.
  2. Gently release the latch to open the battery cover and gain access to the battery compartment.
    • Do not detach the battery cover. The battery plugs into the bay with the printed label side of the battery facing the connecting ports on the back plane of the MTA.
  3. Open the battery cover, and pull the flexible plastic tab on the end of the battery to remove it from the MTA.
