The Recording Log states that a program was not recorded because recording was not authorized. What does that mean?

If a Recording Log entry displays the message "Not recorded because recording was not authorized," the DVR was unable to record because it was denied access to the program. This can occur if a program was scheduled for recording on a channel you have not ordered, such as a premium channel. Also, you may have opted to record a Pay Per View program that you later decided not to purchase.
