Does Home Phone service work with text telephones (TTYs) for the hearing or visually impaired?

Home Phone service works with text telephones.

  • If you qualify, you can receive equipment at no charge via Florida Telecommunications Relay at 1-888-292-1950, extension 232.
  • Before dialing 711 to make your first call, you must register your long distance carrier as Bright House Networks. You should also register with Florida Relay Service by calling 1-800-676-3777 to avoid unnecessary long distance charges.

To place a call:

Whether you are a hearing person calling a hearing-impaired person who has a TTY or whether you are hearing impaired and have a TTY, dial 711 to speak with a relay operator. The operator asks for the number to call.

Once the call is connected, the conversation goes through the operator. The operator types everything the hearing person says and reads everything the deaf person types. There is a set of protocols that the operator will explain if you have not previously placed or received a relay call.
