The lights on the front of your modem can help you determine whether it is operating properly.

1 If you know you have AC Power to the MTA and the Standby light is on, you might have pressed the Standby button accidentally and cut off your Internet connection. To take the MTA off Standby, press the Standby button again, and that LED should go out and the DS and US LEDs should stop blinking and return to solid. If you have no AC Power to the unit, the MTA stays in Standby mode until power is restored. In general, you do not want the unit in Standby mode.

Link/Act USB//WLAN Solid green Indicates a computer is connected through a wireless network adapter (Bright House Networks does not set up Home Networking using the HPNA or USB so your connection is WLAN.)
Blinking There is wireless activity on the cable gateway.
Dark There is no connection between your computer and network through a wireless network adapter.
Link/Act 1-4 Solid green The cable gateway is successfully connected to your equipment through the corresponding port (1, 2, 3, or 4).
Blinking Data is being sent or received over that port.
Dark The cable gateway is not connected to your equipment.
Full/Col (Full Duplex/Collision) Solid green The connection made through the corresponding port (1,2,3, or 4) is running in full duplex mode, which means data can be transmitted two ways simultaneously.
Blinking The connection made through the corresponding port is experiencing collisions. Occasional collisions are normal.
Dark The connection made through the corresponding port is operating in operating in half-duplex mode, meaning data only can be transmitted in one direction at a time.
100 Solid Green A successful 100 Mbps connection is made through the corresponding port.
Dark The connection speed on that port is 10 Mbps.
Cable Modem/Cable Solid green The registration process is complete, and the cable gateway is operational.
Blinking The cable gateway is going through its startup and registration process.
Dark There is no cable connectivity.
Cable Modem/Receive Blinking Data is being received through the cable gateway.
Dark No data is being received through the cable gateway.
