Will my Home Phone work during an electrical power outage?

If there is an electrical power outage that affects your home, your Home Phone service remains available as long as the battery-powered backup in the phone modem stays charged and your cable connection is not affected.

Your Home Phone service might not be available, including access to emergency 911 service, under the following circumstances:

  • If you have a cordless phone that requires electricity. We recommend that you have access to a standard corded phone that does not require electricity for emergencies.
  • During a prolonged electrical power outage when the battery-powered backup in the phone modem loses its charge.
  • If your cable connection is affected.
