How do I detect DNS Changer malware and remove it from my computer?

Detection and removal of the DNS Changer malware is relatively easy. The following process takes you through detection and removal in a few steps. It is important that you complete the entire process for each computer using Windows or Mac OSX operating systems on your home network. If you have any questions, Contact Us for further assistance.

To detect and remove DNS Changer:

  1. Download the detection and removal tool on each computer in your home network.

    The tool run for several minutes, locating all points of infection.

  2. If an infection is detected, select the option to remove it. If no infection is detected, your computer is free of DNS Changer, and no further action regarding DSN Changer is required.
  3. When the removal process is complete, reboot your computer.
  4. When the reboot is finished, update your DNS settings. For more information, see How do I update my DNS settings?
  5. If you have not already done so, reboot your computer.
