Can I copy a recording from my DVR using a DVD recorder?

To copy a recording to a DVD recorder, you will need to connect your DVR to your DVD recorder.

To copy a DVR recording using a DVD recorder:

  1. Connect the coaxial cable from the wall outlet to the DVR's Cable In port. This connection should already be in place.
  2. Using composite cables, connect one end of each composite cable to the matching colors on the DVR's Video/Audio Out ports.
  3. Connect the other ends of the composite cables to the matching colors on the DVD recorder's Video/Audio In ports.
  4. Using another set of composite cables, connect one end of each composite cable to the matching colors on the DVD recorder's Video/Audio Out ports.
  5. Connect the other ends of the composite cables to the matching colors on the TV's Video/Audio In ports.
  6. Insert a blank DVD into your recorder.
  7. On your DVD recorder, press Record.
  8. Use your DVR's remote control to play back a recording. The DVD recorder records the program you are playing back.

High definition recordings do not transfer to your DVD recorder in HD because DVD recorders are not capable of saving HD content. They are still recorded, but the recordings are downgraded to standard definition.
