How do I connect my smart TV to a wireless network?

The following instructions are for some of the more popular smart TV brands:

If you own a brand that is not listed here, consult your TV user manual or contact the manufacturer directly.

LG Smart TV

  1. On your TV remote, press Menu, and then select Setup.
  2. Select Connection Setting, and press Enter.
  3. Select Wireless, and press Enter.
  4. Select Yes, and press Enter. The new connection settings have been set.
  5. Select an access point or wireless router from the list, and press Enter.
    • If there is any security information set up, verify that the WEP/WPA key matches the router's info.
  6. For IP mode, select Dynamic or Static. Select Dynamic to allocate an IP address automatically. To see connection status, select Test and Enter.
  7. Select OK, and press Enter to apply settings. The player prompts you to test the network connection.
  8. Select OK and Enter to complete. The connection is confirmed.

Panasonic Smart TV

  1. On your TV remote, press Menu.
  2. Use the arrow keys to navigate to Settings, and then press OK.
  3. In the Settings Menu, navigate to Network Settings, then press OK.
  4. From the Network Settings menu, select Wireless.
  5. From the three options, select Access Point Scanning with WPA/WPA2.
  6. Select your home network from the list, and press OK. A login screen is displayed.
  7. Enter your wireless network's password. Once done, the TV will run a connection test.

Samsung Smart TV

  1. With the TV on, on your Samsung remote press TV.
  2. Press Menu.
  3. Select Network, and then select Network Settings.
  4. Select Next, and press Enter to begin the network setup.
  5. Select Wireless, and press Enter.
  6. By default, Next is highlighted; press Enter again.
  7. Select the wireless network you want to connect to, and press Enter.
  8. By default, Next is highlighted; press Enter again.
  9. Enter your network's password. Passwords are case sensitive.
  10. Select Next, and press Enter. The TV attempts to connect to the network.
  11. Once connected, Enter is highlighted. Press Enter to complete and close the wireless network setup.

Find the MAC Address for Your Samsung TV

  1. With the TV on, on your Samsung remote press TV .
  2. Press the Menu button.
  3. Select Network.
  4. Select Network Test. Information about the TV and any network it is connected to is displayed. The MAC Address for the TV is the first item on this list.

Sharp Smart TV

  1. On your TV remote, press Menu.
  2. Use the left or right arrow keys to highlight Smart TV, and then press Enter.
  3. Use the left or right arrow keys to select Internet Setup, and then press Enter.
  4. Select Internet Connection, and then press Enter.
  5. Select Manual Setup.
  6. From the Connection Type menu, select Wireless.
  7. Select the desired wireless network, enter the appropriate login information, and then press Enter.
  8. Once the connection has been established, press Menu to exit.

Sony Smart TV

  1. On your TV remote, press the Home button.
  2. Use the arrow keys to scroll to Settings, and then press Enter.
  3. Use the arrow keys to scroll to Network Setup, and then press Enter.
  4. From the menu, select Wireless Setup and then press Enter. A message reading Scan is displayed as the TV searches for available networks.
  5. Highlight the desired network, and press Enter.
  6. Enter your WPA/WPA2 key, and select the Automatically Configure option.
  7. Click the arrows on the TV screen to continue. The system will then ask that you save the settings and Connect the TV. Your TV connects to the network.

Toshiba Smart TV

  1. Press Menu on your TV remote.
  2. Select Network.
  3. Select Network Setup, and then select Connection Type.
  4. Press OK.
  5. Use the up or down arrows to select Wireless, and then press OK.
  6. Select the desired wireless network and enter the appropriate login information. Then press Enter.
  7. Once the connection has been established, press Menu to exit.

Vizio Smart TV

Connect to a Network That Is Broadcasting

  1. On your TV remote, press Menu.
  2. Use the arrow buttons to highlight the Network icon, and press OK. The Network Connection menu opens.
  3. If your network (SSID) is not displayed, highlight More Access Points and press OK.
  4. Use the arrow keys to highlight the name of your network, and press OK.
  5. Use the on-screen keyboard to enter your network password. Then highlight Connect and press OK.
  6. Press the Exit.

Connect to a Hidden Network

  1. On your TV remote, press Menu.
  2. Use the arrow buttons to highlight the Network icon, and press OK. The Network Connection menu opens.
  3. Highlight Enter Access Point Name and press OK.
  4. Highlight Show Keyboard and press OK to open the on-screen keyboard.
  5. Enter your network name (SSID). Then highlight Connect and press OK.
  6. Enter the network's password. Then highlight Connect and press OK.
  7. Press Exit.

Find the Vizio Smart TV's MAC Address

  1. On your TV remote, press Menu.
  2. Use the arrow buttons to highlight the Network icon, and press OK. The Network Connection menu opens.
  3. Highlight Manual Setup, and press OK. The IP Settings menu opens.
  4. At the bottom of the menu the RJ45 MAC and the Wireless MAC addresses are displayed.
