How do I check my IP address?

To check your IP address using Windows 8:

  1. On the Charms bar, click .
  2. In the Search text box, enter Command Prompt.
  3. Click Command Prompt. The Command Prompt window opens,
  4. Enter ipconfig.
  5. Press Enter. In the Ethernet adapter Ethernet section, IPv4 Address is your computer’s IP address.

To check your IP address using Windows Vista or Windows 7:

  1. From the Start menu, select All Programs, then select Accessories, and then select Command Prompt. The Command Prompt window opens.
  2. Enter ipconfig, and press Enter. A listing of details about your IP configuration is displayed, including the IP address.

To check your IP address using Windows XP or Windows 2000:

  1. From the Start menu on your desktop, select Run. The Run window opens.
  2. Enter cmd, and click OK. The Command Prompt window opens.
  3. Enter ipconfig, and press Enter. A listing of information about your IP configuration is displayed, including the IP Address.

To check your IP address using the Mac 10.5 operating system:

  1. Click the Apple icon on your desktop.
  2. From the drop-down list, select System Preferences. The System Preferences page opens.
  3. Under Internet & Network, click Network. The Network page opens.
  4. On the left side of the Network page, make sure that Ethernet Connected is selected.

  5. From the Configure drop-down list, select Using DHCP. The IP Address is displayed in the middle of the page.

To check your IP address using the Mac 10.1 to 10.4 operating system:

  1. Click the Apple icon on your desktop.
  2. From the drop-down list, select System Preferences. The System Preferences page opens.
  3. Under Internet & Network, click Network. The Network page opens.
  4. From the Show drop-down list, select Built-In Ethernet.
  5. Click the TCP/IP tab.
  6. From the Configure drop-down list, select Using DHCP. The IP address is displayed in the IP Address text box below Configure.
