Spectrum TV

Using a CableCARD Instead of a Spectrum Receiver

No. Instead of leasing a Spectrum Receiver, you can lease a CableCARDâ„¢ and use it with your personal devices in one of the following setups:

  • A CableCARD inserted directly into your TV.
  • A CableCARD inserted into a receiver or DVR that you purchased at a store, such as a TiVo or Moxi DVR.
  • A CableCARD inserted into a multituner PC device such as the Ceton InfiniTV 4.

CableCARDs work with many devices, including but not limited to devices manufactured by:

  • TiVo.
  • Ceton.
  • Silicon Dust.
  • Samsung.

Contact your device manufacturer to verify that your model will work with a CableCARD and for all required software needed to ensure compatibility.

There will be some limitations to the programming and services you can receive if you choose one of these setups. Some newer unidirectional cable ready product (UDCP) devices, such as Moxi boxes, and some versions of TiVo HD equipment, can be used with a tuning adapter that we will provide. The tuning adapter enables the UDCP devices to receive switched digital video (SDV) channels. To find out whether your TiVo equipment is compatible with a tuning adapter, Contact Us.
