Issue Signing in to Spectrum WiFi Plus on a Laptop After Connecting to a Corporate Network

You might need to adjust your settings to access Spectrum WiFi Plus if your laptop was previously connected to a corporate network (such as an office network).

To adjust network settings for Spectrum WiFi Plus:

  1. When in range of a Spectrum WiFi Plus hotspot, open the Start menu and select Control Panel.
  2. Click Network and Internet (if your Control Panel options are grouped), and then Network and Sharing Center.
  3. Click Manage wireless networks.
  4. Click Add, and then click Manually create a network profile.
  5. Enter the following:
    • Network name - Spectrum WiFi Plus
    • Security type - WPA2-Enterprise
    • Encryption type - AES
  6. Leave the Security Key text box empty.
  7. Select Start this connection automatically.
  8. Clear the Connect even if the network is not broadcasting check box.
  9. Click Next.
  10. Click Change connection settings.
  11. Click the Security tab.
  12. Ensure that Microsoft Protected EAP (PEAP) is the selected network authentication method, and then click Settings.
  13. Scroll to the bottom of the list box, and clear the Validate server certificate check box.
  14. Under Select Authentication Method, ensure that Secure password (EAP-MSCHAPv2) is selected, and then click Configure.
  15. Clear the Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any) check box, and click OK.
  16. Click OK to close Protected EAP Properties.
  17. On the Spectrum WiFi Plus Network Properties dialog box, click Advanced settings.
  18. Select Specify authentication mode. From the drop-down list, select User authentication, and then click Save credentials.
  19. Enter your My Services user name and password, and click OK.
  20. Click OK to close Advanced Settings.
  21. Click OK to close Spectrum WiFi Plus Wireless Network Properties.
  22. Open your WiFi wireless connections options.
  23. Click Spectrum WiFi Plus, and then click Connect.
