Spectrum Voice

The audio quality on my phone is poor.

If you have a dial tone but the audio quality is poor on your phone:

  1. Check other telephones on your phone line to determine whether the audio quality issue is specific to a particular phone.
  2. If the audio quality issue affects all of the phones, check to see whether any wires or cables to the phone modem, or MTA, are loose or unplugged. Disconnect all cables and wires at the wall and at the MTA, and then plug them in again, ensuring the connections are strong.
  3. If you still have audio problems, you might unknowingly have experienced some kind of problem with the phone and need to reestablish the connection. See How do I reboot or reset my phone modem, or MTA?
  4. If none of the previous steps resolve your problem, try plugging your phone directly into the Line 1 jack on the back of your MTA. If that fixes your problem, you likely have a problem with your phone wiring and need to have a technician visit your home.

If none of these actions resolve your audio issues, Contact Us. Use a phone other than your home phone to call the Spectrum Support team because your connection to home phone might be temporarily lost as part of the process of getting your phone service working properly again.
